A woman selling a fake “brain tonic” treatment is on the run
A woman convicted of fraudulently claiming that her product can cure the disease is believed to have fled the country.
Genevieve Flight, 43, advertised her “brain tonic” on social media as a treatment for dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and more.
Councilor Dave Norman, the minister in charge of trading standards, said: Especially vulnerable and vulnerable to these unfounded claims.
“In filing this proceeding, we send a clear message to others who are considering exploiting those who are anxious for help that such behavior is unacceptable.”
Flight denied guilty, but the Gloucester Crown Court jury was found guilty today after a three-day trial.
The flight did not attend the hearing and is believed to have fled the country. Her arrest warrant is currently issued and she will be sentenced when she returns to the UK.
The Gloucestershire County Council’s Trading Standards Office began an investigation in January 2019 following complaints about flight postings.
The flight was a director and healer or Shambhala Healing Center based in the Philippines and having an address in Kingsway.
Her statement posted on social media and the company’s website said: “A brain tonic to reverse all types of brain damage. Autism, dementia, stroke, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, epilepsy, psychosis, Huntington’s disease, depression, anxiety disorders, etc.”
The flight was indicted under consumer protection from unfair trade in 2008.
