More than half of FDNY firefighters say they refuse the COVID vaccine.
The survey surveyed more than 2000 members, and about 55 percent of them said they would not be vaccinated. On Saturday, union representatives talked about their findings.

Many FDNY members have stated that more information is needed before vaccination.
Two vaccines are about to be released. One is Pfizer and the other is Moderna. Experts say both appear to be 95% effective.
Andrew Ansbro, president of the Unified Firefighters Association, says that about 200 members are currently ill. This is about 2 percent of the unit. Ansbro recommends members to be vaccinated, but it is not required.
“That’s their choice. We’re aiming for this off-duty, not the fire department. We don’t want to pollute the members of the fire department,” Ansebro said.
FDNY officials say whether members decide to vaccinate-it does not affect their activities.
“Everyone understands that first responders need access to it. We encourage members to get it,” Ansbro added.
Authorities say Randall’s Island may be the place to store and administer the vaccine.
