Four new cases of COVID reported in NS, Premier praises vigilance | Local | News
There were four new cases of COVID-19 reported in Nova Scotia on Sunday, and the number of active cases in the state reached 88.
All four cases identified on Saturday have occurred in the central zone, including the Halifax region, the Eastern Shore and West Hants, the Ministry of Health announced.
Three of the new cases are under investigation, one is associated with a trip outside the Atlantic Canada, and the person is self-isolating as needed.
“We are pleased to see the decline in new cases this weekend,” said Prime Minister Stephen McNeill, referring to four cases reported on Sunday and six cases reported on Saturday.
“This reflects Nova Scotia’s commitment to follow public health measures and play a role in delaying the spread of COVID-19,” he said.
“I know it’s difficult to stay away from family and friends, but I want to encourage everyone to stay vigilant and continue to contain the virus.”
Nova Scotia identified a case of COVID-19 on Sunday at Ian Forsyth Elementary School in Dartmouth.
The school will remain closed to students until Thursday. Thorough cleaning is done and students learn from home during the closure. Students and staff will receive the latest information on Wednesday.
The Nova Scotia Health Authority lab completed 1,171 Nova Scotia tests on Saturday. This includes 394 tests conducted on the Halifax Rapid Inspection pop-up site.
There were no positive test results confirmed in the field.
Since October 1, Nova Scotia has completed 75,833 tests, with 279 positive COVID-19 cases and 191 resolved cases. There were no deaths during that period and no one is currently hospitalized.

When a new case of COVID-19 is identified, public health will work to identify and test for anyone who may have had close contact with that person. Identified individuals have been instructed to quarantine themselves at home away from the public for 14 days.
Anyone who has traveled outside Atlantic Canada must self-quarantine for 14 days. Nova Scotians who develop symptoms of acute respiratory illness need to limit contact with others until they feel better.
Nova Scotia citizens practice proper hand washing and other hygiene procedures, maintain physical distance when and where they are needed, and wear essential non-medical masks in most indoor public places. It is still important to follow public health instructions.
The state states that the rules for interstate travel within Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland and Labrador have changed. The prime ministers of all four Atlantic states have warned against non-essential trips to neighboring states.
Currently, all non-essential trips to Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, and Newfoundland and Labrador require 14 days of self-quarantine. You must comply with all public health directives in each state.
