Reno’s hospital has transformed its parking lot into a new building to treat coronavirus patients
But now she and her 35-year-old husband, Lewis, are both patients at the Renown Regional Medical Center.

Rosalia Martinez was admitted to the hospital before her husband.
“I cried when she found out she was ill. I thought she would die,” said Luis Martinez. He is now recovering from the virus with four beds down.
“He coughs at night, I can hear his voice, and if I scream, he can hear me,” Rosalia said. “He knows I’m still alive.”
Coronavirus patients in the parking space may sound strange, but Luis Martinez said he felt safe there. He said the space was clean and the staff were working hard to ensure that everyone was present.

In March, Central Park’s East Meadow became a 68-bed field hospital, with an additional 1,000 beds added when the US Navy’s Ship Comfort docked in New York City that month.
