Mount Sinai is preparing to store and distribute the vaccine

Even before the FDA panel voted to recommend the Food and Drug Administration to allow emergency use of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine, Mount Sinai began preparing for vaccine storage and distribution.
Susan Mashni, president and chief pharmacy officer of Mount Sinai Health Systems, said on a visit to the Mount Sinai Queens pharmacy on Wednesday, “I heard last night that I could get the drug right away this weekend.” Said.

Mashni is leading an effort to educate Mount Sinai Queens pharmacy staff to be ready the moment the vaccine arrives. This is because the virus has been spreading throughout the United States over the past few months without waiting for anyone.
COVID-19 set a new record this week. On Wednesday, 3,100 US deaths were caused by the coronavirus within 24 hours.
Mountain Sinai officials told NY1 that they have a game plan to vaccinate those who are most in need of the vaccine.
Mr. Mashni said the plan was to promptly vaccinate “everyone from people like ICUs, ERs and even environmental services, transportation and food services.”
Pharmacies still taking the vaccine need to be especially careful to ensure that it is properly stored, as not everyone has enough vaccine.
“As you know, it only takes about 90 seconds to unload the box and put it in the freezer,” says Mashni.
The goal of the pharmacy Mount Sinai staff is to ensure that one drop of vaccine is not at risk.
