Miami – The Florida Department of Health reported more than 11,000 new COVID-19 cases on Friday for the second consecutive day.
Friday’s 11,699 new cases surpassed the 11,335 new cases announced Thursday, the largest one-day increase in the state since July 25.
Florida also revealed the deaths of an additional 123 residents as a result of Friday’s COVID-19.
Since the start of the pandemic, the state has confirmed 1,106,396 cases and 19,714 resident deaths as a result of COVID-19. Another 263 non-residents died of COVID-19 in Florida. According to the state dashboard, And since the onset of the outbreak, there have been 57,728 coronavirus-related hospitalizations.
The state test positive rate dropped slightly from 8.11% on Wednesday to 7.9% on Thursday.
