Three more COVID-19-related deaths in the tri-state area.53 new cases at Jackson and 51 new cases at Dubuque | Coronavirus
Telegraph Herald is regaining changes in local COVID-19 testing and recovery daily. Saturday’s development is as follows:
- Three more COVID-19-related deaths were reported in the tri-state area between 5 pm Friday and 5 pm Saturday. Two of the dead were residents of Jones County, Iowa, for the second consecutive day. County tolls have increased by 13 since Monday night.
- Another death was reported in Grant County, Wisconsin, the day after two more deaths were reported in the county.
- Dubuque County reported 51 confirmed cases of COVID-19 between 5 pm Friday and 5 pm Saturday. The county’s 14-day positive rate dropped slightly to 13.1%.
- As of 5 pm on Saturday, residents of 45,872 counties had been tested for COVID-19, for a total of 107,106 tests.
- Of the new COVID-19 diagnoses over the last 14 days, 22% were in the 18-29 year old group and 15% were children under the age of 18. There were 14 people in both the 40-49 and 50-59 groups. The proportion of cases was 12% for 30-39, 10% for 60-69, and 6% for both the 70-79 and 80+ groups.
- In Jackson County, there were an additional 53 cases in 24 hours. This is the county’s highest daily total since November 13th. The county’s 14-day rate dropped slightly to 17.3%.
- Delaware County reported 10 more cases during that time frame, with a rate remaining at 12.5% at 5 pm.
- There were eight more cases in Clayton County, whose 14-day positive rate dropped to 16.3%.
- Jones County reported an additional 6 cases and a 17.2% rate.

- Level hospitalization data again on Saturday. As of Wednesday (latest data), there were 30 COVID-19-infected persons in Dubuque County. Jones County, 13; Clayton County, 9; Jackson County, 4; and Delaware County, 3.
- As of 5 pm on Saturday, the state had reported outbreaks at nine local long-term care facilities. The number of cases is as follows. Doubuk’s Stone Hill Care Center-23 cases. Shady Rest Care Center, Cascade — 22; Dubuque Manor Care Health Services — 22; Dubuque Hawkeye Care Center — 15; Bethany Home, Dubuque — 5; Good Neighbor Home, Manchester — 85; Monticello Nursing and Rehabilitation Center — 72; McGregor’s Great River Care Center — 39; and Guttenberg Care Center — 49.
- The Jackson County Care Center is not on the list, but at least one facility wrote about the outbreak in its December newsletter. Calls to local and state officials for clarification have not been returned.
- The number of confirmed cases across Iowa increased by 1,633 in 24 hours to 255,241 as of 5 pm on Saturday. The state-wide death toll increased by 15 to 3,212.
- In Wisconsin, Iowa County didn’t provide up-to-date information on Saturday, but the state’s website saw a 44-increased number of cases, the highest daily total since 19 November. 9 o’clock in Lafayette County.
- Across the state, there were 4,059 new cases on Saturday, for a total of 434,016 cases. The number of states moved to 4,041 as 50 more related deaths were reported.
- In Illinois, Jo Daviess County did not provide updates on Saturday, but the state’s website showed that number increased by 17.
Across the state, there were 8,737 newly identified possible cases on Saturday, with 127 associated deaths. This resulted in a total of 841,688 deaths and 14,176 deaths in the state.
