NB COVID-19 Summary: Two new cases in the Fredericton region
Public Health unveiled two new cases of COVID-19 at New Brunswick on Sunday.
Both cases are located in the Fredericton area (Zone 3) and affect individuals in their 60s.
Both cases are self-isolating and under investigation.
The total number of active cases has decreased from 72 to 65. Three are in the hospital and two are in intensive care.
The state reported 557 cases during the pandemic, with 484 recovery.
Public health conducted 1,253 COVID-19 tests on Saturday, bringing the total number of tests to 139,374.
During the pandemic, the state has so far had eight deaths from COVID-19.
‘never say never’
As far as COVID-19 is concerned, after a quiet Saturday, the Edmanston area will be the second day in the orange stage.
New Brunswick reported one new case on Saturday, but it wasn’t in the Edmundston zone.
Zone 4 has moved to orange level limits due to an increase in cases and outbreaks at Edmundston Regional Hospital.
Public health said seven of the cases were hospital employees and 24 workers were self-quarantined. It warns that increasing the number of cases may affect the hospital’s ability to provide services.
However, state health director Dr. Jennifer Russell said the region still has the potential to return to yellow-level limits in time for Christmas.
“Never say,” Russell said. “I think all we can do is do our best at the moment and see what happens.”
The clinic will start soon
It will take some time for most New Brands Wickers to get the chance to get the vaccine, but some invitations have already been sent.
Dr. Hanifchatour, a doctor in the emergency room at Upper River Valley Hospital in Waterville, New Brunswick, said he has been on the Miramichi Regional Hospital’s vaccination list since December 19.
CBC News contacted public health about the clinic, but no details were confirmed.
Chatur said he hopes that having doctors willing to take the vaccine will alleviate some concerns.
“Vaccines have some hesitation, which is appreciated, but certainly I have a great deal of confidence in science and scientists,” he said.
Exposure notification
Public health added three new flights to the list of possible exposures on Friday. Those who test positive may have been infected while traveling on their next flight on December 4th.
- Air Canada flight 8372 from Fort McMurray to Calgary.
- Air Canada 144 flights from Calgary to Toronto.
- Air Canada flight 8918 from Toronto to Moncton.
Anyone who has traveled on these flights “must continue to follow the instructions given during the travel registration process and when entering New Brunswick,” the advisory said.
