Covid-linked boy recovering from coma and family “thanks” for Christmas
The boy’s family, who fell into a coma after Covid-19, said he was “much grateful” to be able to celebrate this Christmas with him.
Jackfair spent days in the intensive care unit after his heart failed and important organs became inflamed.
His parents, Tommy and Tracy, both at the age of 51, began answering strange questions and became worried when they rang the NHS24.
It was revealed that he was suffering from serious symptoms such as the rare Kawasaki disease associated with the coronavirus. His parents were infected with the virus in October, but neither of the young children showed symptoms.
A 10-year-old child from Blackridge, West Lothian, was taken to St. John’s Hospital in Livingston on November 9, allowing doctors to evaluate him.
He was then taken to the Royal Children’s Hospital in Glasgow, where doctors put him in a coma for five days and hospitalized in the ward for another seven days.
Mrs. Fair said: “It’s still a little surreal and not very real.
“It’s like what’s happening to someone else.
“He was a normal healthy little boy.
“Heart function was not working, his blood pressure was dangerously low.
“I think the children get the impression that they are very safe.
“People should keep in mind that they can get it-it can be really, really serious.”
Mrs. Fair told the PA news agency that she was worried about future complications, but her son was getting better.
She added that he may come back tired of studying at Almadel Elementary School, which is limited to one hour a day, and decided to stay away from the classroom until next year.
Due to coronavirus restrictions, it will be the first Christmas the family has not spent with Mrs. Fair’s parents.
However, it made me feel even more special because my son could enjoy it together.
She added: “It will be a strange Christmas anyway, but I think we will suddenly be more thankful.
“Christmas will be something we are more thankful for.”
