Nursing homes and rehabilitation facilities encourage staff and residents to get the COVID-19 vaccine

Hendersonville, North Carolina (WLOS) — Places such as nursing homes and rehabilitation facilities are preparing to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. The facility leader said it could happen as early as two weeks.
Leaders of two Hendersonville rally living facilities that had an outbreak of COVID-19 said there was no recurrence due to the importance of the vaccine.
Dee Brooks, Director of Clinical Services at Cherry Springs Village, said:
Brooks said this was a chance to get back to normal.
“I’m one of those infected with COVID and I can’t wait to roll up my sleeves and get the vaccine,” Brooks said.
Brooks said the facility is affiliated with a CVS pharmacy for vaccine distribution. She said they were waiting for CVS to give them a date for three vaccine clinics. Dates are spaced apart so that all residents and staff who wish to receive the vaccine can receive the vaccine twice.
This is a similar process at Bryan Center Health and Rehabilitation Hendersonville.
Analise Inpink, who coordinates vaccine distribution at the facility, said:
She said they were having a hard time persuading some of the staff to get the vaccine. She said she estimates that 50% of the people in the facility want to be vaccinated. Impink said its goal is to bring that number to 90%.
“What we really often hear is that we want to wait until others are first vaccinated. Therefore, they want to see the first clinic run first. And then consider a second clinic, and that’s okay, “said Impink.
Governor Roy Cooper announced earlier this week that skilled nursing facilities could start vaccination as early as next week.
