Illinois reports more than 900,000 COVID-19 cases, state reports 6,003 cases, 79 deaths
Chicago — — Health officials in Illinois reported 6,003 new cases of COVID-19 that may have been identified on Sunday, of which 79 died.
Illinois currently reports more than 900,000 cases of COVID-19, making it the fourth state after California, Texas, and Florida.
Deaths were reported in the following counties:
- Adams County: A man from the 70’s
- Bureau County: One Woman in the 80’s
- Christian County: One Man in the 80’s
- Cook County: 1 male in 40s, 1 male in 50s, 1 female in 60s, 9 males in 60s, 3 females in 70s, 4 males in 70s, 8 females in 80s, 4 males in 80s , 3 women in their 90s, 4 men in their 90s, 1 woman over 100 years old
- DuPage County: 1 woman in her 40s, 2 women in her 80s, 1 man in her 80s
- Fayette County: One Woman in the 80’s
- Hancock County: One man in the 90’s
- Jefferson County: One Man in the 80’s
- Kane County: 2 men in their 50s, 1 man in their 80s
- Knox County: 1 man in the 80’s, 1 woman in the 90’s
- Lake County: 1 man from the 70’s
- Lie group: one man in the 90’s
- Madison County: 1 woman in the 80’s, 1 man in the 90’s
- Montgomery County: 1 man in his 60s
- Ogle County: 1 man in the 80’s
- Peoria County: 1 man in the 70’s, 1 woman in the 80’s

Currently, IDPH reports a total of 900,370 cases, including 15,202 deaths, in 102 counties in Illinois.
Within the last 24 hours, the laboratory has reported a total of 12,434,525 78,079 specimens.
As of Saturday night, 4,389 people in Illinois were reported hospitalized with COVID-19. Of these, 991 patients were in the ICU and 546 were on ventilator.
The preliminary 7-day state-wide positive rate for cases as a percentage of all tests from 13 December to 19 December is 7.8%. The state-wide preliminary test positive rate for the seven days from December 13th to December 19th is 9.6%.
