In Onondaga County, 304 new Covid cases have been seen and 5 more have died. “Another very tough day”
Syracuse-Onondaga County, NY reported today 304 new cases of coronavirus and 5 virus-related deaths.
“It was another tough day,” Ryan McMahon, an executive in Onondaga County, said on Twitter.
The five deaths included two men aged 78 and 79, a woman aged 84, and two nursing home residents. The county’s coronavirus deaths are currently 354, of which 113 have occurred this month.
Seventeen of the new cases were residents of elderly living facilities.
The county reported that 315 coronavirus patients were hospitalized and 52 were admitted to the intensive care unit.
According to McMahon, the county has gone through a “week of intestinal pain,” but there are some positive trends.
He said the number of new cases fell last week for the first time in months.
McMahon also said the Covid-19 vaccination will begin on Monday at a nursing home.
