DOH reports 40,560 COVID-19 cases that killed 497 people in Pineras.Coronavirus

The Florida Department of Health reported 261 new cases of COVID-19 in Pinellas County on 20 December, bringing the number to 40,560. Another resident died from the new coronavirus, increasing the death toll to 997.

The first two cases in the county were reported on March 11, and the first death was confirmed on March 23.

COVID-Pineras kills 19 people

Local emergency, face mask order

The Pinellas County Commission has extended the state of emergency in the region until December 25th. The county-wide ordinance, which requires wearing a face cover in indoor locations, remains in force. Bars and restaurants can only serve regular customers who are seated.

County administrator Barry Burton told the commissioner on December 15 that the number of cases was increasing and the positive rate was close to what was experienced during the July outbreak of COVID-19.
