Weekly Enrolled Covid-19 Deaths Decrease for 2 Consecutive Weeks – ONS

Coronavirus deaths registered in England and Wales have declined for the second straight week, new figures show.

According to the National Bureau of Statistics of China (ONS), 2,756 deaths were registered in the week leading up to December 11, and the death certificate stated that it was a “new coronavirus.”

This is 79 fewer deaths than registered last week, a 2.8% reduction, with Covid-19 accounting for 22.4% of all deaths.

Last week, the four-week national blockade was lifted, reducing weekly registered deaths associated with Covid-19 for the first time in three months.

Overall, 1,542 deaths were registered in the week leading up to December 11, compared to the average for this period over the last five years.

Deaths in hospitals, long-term care facilities and private homes are above the five-year average.

And in all UK regions and Wales, there were more deaths than the five-year average for the fifth straight week.

Deaths associated with Covid-19 declined in Wales and all UK regions except East Midlands, eastern England and southeastern England.

In the northwest, despite the decline from the previous week, Covid-19 (426) continued to experience the highest number of deaths involved.

Yorkshire and Hamburg had the highest rates of death associated with Covid-19.

Coronavirus deaths in long-term care facilities and hospitals decreased slightly, but increased in private homes.

So far in 2020, there have been 48,557 Covid-19-related deaths in hospitals (66.9%). 18,964 people in a long-term care facility. 3,500 in private homes, 981 in hospice, 287 in other communal facilities, 257 elsewhere.

A total of 81,416 deaths have been registered in the UK so far, with Covid-19 listed on the death certificate, according to the latest report from the UK statistics agency.
