Two veterans at Aurora’s Fitzsimmons Care Facility are the first elderly vaccinated in Colorado – CBS Denver

Aurora, Koro. (CBS4) — The two veterans at the Veterans Community Living Center in Fitzsimmons, Aurora were the first elderly to receive COVID-19 in Colorado.

On Tuesday, a family of two men stood outside the care facility watching their loved one get the first shot. Phil Ross, a 73-year-old Vietnam veteran, said it was a way to help the people around him.

“I’m a game for the benefit of the entire population here,” he told reporters through a glass window on Tuesday.

For months, the family was unable to hug or hug their loved ones due to coronavirus restrictions. Old coloradans in nursing homes have been considered a high-risk population for the deadly virus.
