First District Health Unit Healthcare Workers Vaccinated Moderna
Minot, North Dakota – Healthcare workers in District 1 began vaccination with Moderna on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, Dr. Casmiar Nwaigwe, Director of Healthcare in District 1, vaccinated with COVID-19 vaccine with other FDHU healthcare workers.
Nwaigwe is also an infectious disease expert.
He said it was important to get vaccinated as a tool to protect himself.
“I hope it protects against infections. Studies have shown that it can protect against severe symptoms,” he said.
If an allergic reaction occurs after firing, the healthcare professional will be asked to wait 15 minutes before leaving the hospital.
“All those who responded seriously were successfully resuscitated and there was no lasting harm,” said Nwaigwe.
He said he hopes this will serve as a model for the community.
“If many of us are vaccinated, hopefully we are on the road to overcoming the coronavirus pandemic,” Nwaigwe said.
The vaccine requires a second vaccination after 28 days.
Nwaigwe said he would receive a second vaccination in late January.
