Missouri Records 1,756 New COVID-19 Cases and 1 Death | Coronavirus
In Missouri, there were 1,756 new cases of COVID-19, a total of 380,643 since the outbreak of the pandemic, the Health and Senior Services Department reported online.
One COVID-related death brought the total to 5,309.
The number of new cases has generally been declining since late November, when many local governments began adopting new public health orders to curb the spread of the virus.
For example, Franklin and Jefferson counties adopted Maskman Date at the end of November. St. Louis County has ordered restaurants and bars to suspend indoor services.
Missouri reported on Saturday that the number of patients admitted with COVID-19 was 2,821 across the state, a decrease of 41 from the previous day’s record high.
Similarly, pressure on hospitals in the St. Louis area seems to have eased.
According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Pandemic Task Force, new hospitalizations on Saturday dropped from 107 to 84 the day before. The 7-day moving average of hospitalization dropped from 853 to 850 on Saturday.
There is a two-day delay in hospitalization data from BJC HealthCare, Mercy, SSM Health, and St. Luke’s Hospital, the four major healthcare systems in the St. Louis region.
