State Authorities Announce Latest COVID-19 Facts – December 27 – YubaNet

Sacramento December 27, 2020 – The California Public Health Service (CDPH) today released the latest statistics on COVID-19, including data on state-wide intensive care unit (ICU) capacity. Based on ICU data, four regions, the San Joaquin Valley, Southern California, Greater Sacramento, and the Bay Area, are subject to curfew.

The Los Angeles County Public Health Service has been delayed in reporting due to a disruption in service due to a local power outage. Yesterday’s number of cases was delayed, and the number of deaths reported today reflects an underestimation.

A local curfew can extend to many parts of California. The region must remain under the Stay-at-home Order for at least 3 weeks and will continue until the ICU capacity forecast for 4 weeks from the date of evaluation is at least 15%.

The earliest dates that a region may qualify for end are:

  • San Hoakin: December 28th
  • Southern California: December 28
  • Greater Sacramento: January 1st
  • Bay Area: January 8th

Currently available ICU capacity by region:

  • Bay area: 11.1%
  • Greater Sacramento: 17.8%
  • Northern California: 28.3%
  • San Joaquin Valley: 0.0%
  • Southern California: 0.0%

Due to the high rate of COVID-19 hospitalizations affecting the healthcare system, California is under a restricted stay-at-home order. This order applies to all counties currently under curfew in the region and to counties in Tier 1 (purple) of the blueprint for a safer economy. The limited curfew is Curfew in the area Finished in all parts of the state.

  • To date, there are 2,122,806 confirmed cases in California. The numbers may not represent actual day-to-day changes due to the delay in reporting test results.
  • There were 50,141 new confirmed cases recorded on Saturday. The number of cases confirmed today from Los Angeles County due to a service interruption in Los Angeles reflects the cases reported today and yesterday.
  • The 7-day positive rate is 11.4% and the 14-day positive rate is 12.3%.
  • 31,826,696 tests were conducted in California. This represents an increase of 380,154 compared to the previous 24-hour reporting period.
  • As the number of cases continues to grow in California, so will the total number of individuals with serious consequences. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 24,220 COVID-19s have died. Due to service interruptions in Los Angeles, the number of deaths reported today by Los Angeles County reflects the number of deaths reported today and yesterday.
