Texas sets new COVID-19 hospitalization record
Texas set a new COVID-19 hospitalization record for 11,351 patients on Monday. And it exceeded the previous mark of 10,893 from the end of July.
Hospitalizations have been steadily increasing since October and have increased sharply since early November.

Hotez said it was unclear how the Christmas gathering would affect the number of infections. But he warned people that the New Year’s celebration would be “the best party the COVID virus could hope for.”
“I think there are risks associated with any kind of New Year celebration,” he said. “Whenever this high level of infection occurs in the state and we gather four or five people, they are more likely to get COVID.”
