4 residents of West Rogers Park nursing homes die from Corona virus – NBC Chicago | Instant news

Four residents of a nursing home in West Rogers Park have died due to causes related to the Coruna virus, according to Cook County data.

A 64-year-old woman and an 87-year-old man died on Wednesday from pneumonia due to developing COVID-19, according to Cook County Medical Examination Office.

The next day, two women, 58 and 81 years old, died of sepsis due to a COVID-19 infection, the medical examiner’s office said.

Officials said the four were residents of Elfit Care Chicago North, located in 2451 W. Avi Tohi, and they had an underlying health condition.

A fifth citizen died on Tuesday, but the autopsy results to determine the cause of death are still awaiting on Saturday, according to the medical examination office.

“Today, we can confirm that there are some patients who live in Elevate Care Chicago North who have been diagnosed with COVID-19,” Amanda Andrews, Vice President of Care Operations at CaritiCare, said in a statement. “In addition, we are very sad to ensure that lives are lost due to this unforgivable virus. Nursing homes followed CDC procedures and made contact with our local health department.”

Elevate Care officials did not respond to requests for more details.

Andrews said the nursing home ended family visits and banned “unimportant” people from entering the building.

Andrews said that the meal and community activities program has been stopped, and that the home has “a lot of PPE on hand and sufficient for the foreseeable future”.
