Coronavirus kills four residents of West Rogers Park’s Elevate Care Nursing Home – NBC Chicago
According to Cook County data, four residents of West Rogers Park nursing home have died from coronavirus-related causes.
According to Cook County’s office, both a 64-year-old woman and a 87-year-old man died of pneumonia on Wednesday due to COVID-19 infection.
The next day, two women, 58 and 81, died of sepsis due to COVID-19 infection.
According to officials, all four were residents of Elevate Care Chicago North at 2451 W. Touhy Ave. and had underlying medical conditions.
A fifth resident also died Tuesday, but autopsy results to determine the cause of the death were pending until Saturday, according to the Autopsy Department.
“Today, we can confirm that some patients in Elevate Care Chicago North have tested positive for COVID-19,” said Amanda Andrews, vice president of operations for Elevate Care in a statement. “Furthermore, it is very sad to confirm that there has been a loss of life associated with this relentless virus. The nursing home follows CDC procedures and contacts the local health department . “
The Elevate Care representative did not comply with the request for details.
According to Andrews, nursing homes have ended family visits and banned “insignificant” people from entering the building.
According to Andrews, the communal meal and activity program has been discontinued and the house “has enough personal protective equipment (PPE) at hand and will be enough in the near future”.
