Des Moines (AP) — COVID-19 hospitalizations continue to decline in Iowa, but positive rates have been declining until December and then on the rise.

As of Saturday, the state’s 14-day positive rate was 12.8%, up from 12.7% the day before. The state’s 7-day positive rate increased from 11.5% to 11.7%. An increasing number of counties are reporting positive rates for 14 days, exceeding 15%. Forty-three of the 99 counties in Iowa currently report rates of over 15%. This is four more counties than the day before. The positive rate for Black Hawk County on Saturday was 12.2%.

Currently, 572 patients are hospitalized for COVID-19, a decrease of 3 in the last 24 hours. The number of patients hospitalized in the last 24 hours has increased from 83 to 88. 119 patients are listed in the intensive care unit and 60 patients are listed in the ventilator.

The Department of Health also reported that the death toll increased by 48 to 3,946. The number of cases increased to 283,144.
