Coronavirus: Hamilton reports 136 new COVID-19 cases, 3 deaths-Hamilton

 


Hamilton reported 136 new COVID-19 (new coronavirus infection) (# If there is no character limit, add parentheses when it first appears Sunday incident and three more deaths.

According to public health, as of January 3, Hamilton has 32 active outbreaks, including 19 facilities, 7 regional agencies and 6 schools.

The largest is Grace Villa, which has had 228 positive cases and 38 deaths since the outbreak began on November 25.

Outbreaks in four units at Durabinsky Hospital involved 115 people and killed nine.

Shalom Village reported 31 active cases as of Sunday between 21 residents and 10 staff. Since the outbreak began, 95 residents and 72 staff have been infected with the virus in the house.

Hamilton has caused 177 coronavirus-related deaths since the pandemic began in March.

The city saw a total of 6,485 cases during the pandemic. As of Sunday, there are 68 hospitals receiving COVID-19 treatment. Hamilton Health Sciences says eight out of 47 coronavirus patients are in the intensive care unit (ICU).

The Halton area reported 69 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, one of whom died in connection with an Oakville care facility.

As of January 3, there were 636 active cases in the region, with Burlington 215, Halton Hills 54, Milton 194, and Oakville 173.

Niagara Public Health reported 118 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday.

In Niagara, two new facilities have sprung up at the West Park Health Center in St. Catharines and the Royal Henry Retirement Residence, both declared Friday.

Niagara Health manages many current outbreaks, including seven at agency hospitals in Niagara Falls and St. Catharines.

The five outbreaks at Greater Niagara Falls General Hospital involved 66 patients and 81 staff. There were 10 deaths associated with 5 units. The outbreak at the St. Catharines site began on December 31, and is associated with the case of two staff members.

Outbreaks at Oakwood Park Lodge expanded to 229 coronavirus cases as of Sunday. Twenty-eight people have died in connection with COVID-19 since the surge began on December 12.

The second outbreak on Millennium Trail Manners has continued since December 18, and currently 56 out of 33 residents and 23 staff have occurred. According to Niagara Health, eight people have died in the house related to the coronavirus.

There are 32 outbreaks in the area, 20 of which occur within the facility.

Of the 142 deaths in the area during the coronavirus crisis, 68 are related to patients who have passed Niagara Health Hospital.

Overall, there have been a total of 4,299 positive cases in Niagara since the pandemic began.

Brant County reports 18 new COVID-19 cases

In Brant County, 956 cases of COVID-19 infection have been confirmed since the pandemic began, with an additional 18 cases on Saturday.

There are currently 222 active cases in the area, 4 of whom are being treated in hospitals.

After two positive cases were found among staff at Tim Hortons on Henry Street in Brantford, the health unit reported a new outbreak at work.
