Portland, Oregon (AP) — Authorities are looking for an attempted murder suspect who has escaped from a temporary cell and has run out of police headquarters in downtown Portland. The Oregonian reported that 24-year-old David Darren was arrested Saturday on suspicion of having a broken pelvis after plunging a pickup truck stolen on Christmas Eve into a police officer. He escaped from the key room of the police detective department while waiting for a cross-examination. A police spokesman says police officers still don’t understand how Darren escaped, but described it as “unprecedented” in the station’s recent history. Police did not provide the latest information on Sunday morning.
Portland, Oregon (AP) — Investigations are underway after a woman was found dead in a burning home in northwestern Oregon. The Oregonian reports that firefighters were called into a two-story house on the seaside on Friday afternoon and found the structure in flames. The search found the only 69-year-old Bonnie Dasse’s body in the house. Investigators have not revealed what caused the flame, and authorities are still trying to identify the timeline. The other homes were not damaged. Seaside is a small coastal city just south of Astoria.

Wheeler said Friday that he would organize a meeting with law enforcement agencies to decide how to respond to “anarchist violence” in the city. Police say the demonstrators launched fireworks in federal court and sent projectiles to police officers. Wheeler called on the Oregon State Capitol to pass a bill that would increase penalties for those who repeatedly destroy property. He also did not provide details when asked for details, but said state legislators may need to change the law to give the city government more oversight.
Vancouver, WA (AP) — The COVID-19 outbreak spread to 30 patients last week at the PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center. That’s according to a news release from Peace Health on Friday night. No patients were hospitalized for the virus, and none were tested positive at admission. In addition, the six employees who were caring for the patient also tested positive for the virus. PeaceHealth has put 86 employees into self-quarantine due to the outbreak. Institutional health care professionals say infection specialists are conducting reviews to understand the root cause of the outbreak. Clark County Public Health and Peace Health notify patients of potential exposure.
