Ade, a 49-year-old electrician, came back from work one night in June 2020 and had a hard time writing.

The pair was called the NHS111 line and he was rushed by ambulance to the Department of Neurology at the Royal Hospital of Worcestershire. A brain tumor was detected there.

Forty-five-year-old Terra said:

“For some reason, he was perfectly healthy and was cycling everywhere. Next he was told this.”

Ade, Terra and their children Cove (12 years old) and Ever (8 years old) remained hopeful, but a September 7 test showed that he had a rare brain tumor (primary non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma). It became clear that he was suffering. ..

From there, he completed a cycle of chemotherapy at Worcestershire Royal, but the second round in September was shortened due to fever.

By October, he managed to complete a complete 21-day cycle, and the couple felt positive.

But tragically, at the beginning of November, they found that the tumor had returned – measuring a full 4 cm.

Another round of chemotherapy that month was ineffective, leading to tragic news that there was nothing more NHS could do at the beginning of December.

The doctor told Ade that he had only one month left to live.

Terra, who works in social media marketing, refused to give up and immediately began raising funds and looking for alternative treatments.

Originally from Florida, USA, where she met Ade when she worked for a short time in 2005, she said:

“I knew there was a cure even if I couldn’t get treatment with the NHS.”

“We need to give our children a few more years with their father.”

When Ade returned to Worcester, he was completely devoted since he met in Florida. He and Terra enjoyed a long phone call across the Atlantic for 10 months before taking the plunge to move to the West Midlands in March 2006 to join him.

A few months later, in August, when I tied the knot and the two kids completed the family, I loved the long bike ride and active lifestyle in the countryside, despite living in the town.

“He’s a great cyclist and very practical,” Terra said.

She added: “At this point, kids are really missing out on biking and adventure.”

It was Aid’s best fitness that dismissed his early symptoms as “trapped nerves”, such as being difficult to write.

Terra continued. “Within a few days after this happened, we noticed that he was beginning to lose the use of a few fingers.”

“We called the GP because it started to worry us, but when he had a cramp while driving, he went to A & E, where they X-rayed his neck and what I didn’t know if it was bad, “Tera said.

“At that point, no one suspected it could be his brain.”

After the tumor was finally detected, he removed the tumor in August at Coventry University Hospital with a 10-hour operation, but examinations only a month later revealed that the tumor had recovered. I did.

Terra said Ade was “by herself” and “distracted” in the news.

She states: “At the end of November, his consultant said there was nothing he could do other than give him palliative radiation therapy. They would send him home and essentially die.

“I wasn’t going to accept it. I felt complete distrust and anger at this cruel illness.”

“We didn’t mean to give up on a healthy 48-year-old man and his two fathers,” she added.

“It wasn’t accepted by me.”

So Terra made it her mission to find other options – she decided to save her beloved husband.

She used her social media skills to track CNS lymphoma specialists and other patients around the world and discovered the immunotherapies ibrutinib and lenalidomide, proton beam or cyberknife radiation therapy. Use a laser focused beam to suppress growth. brain.

“But taking him there is a fierce competition with time.”

He is currently on regular radiation therapy and is taking the immunotherapeutic drug ibrutinib, but sadly, his family is taking the drug as part of a 90-day limited-time compassionate drug trial. Therefore, it is said that Ade’s prescription will not last indefinitely.

Still, Terra firmly believes that something is going well because her husband was able to spend Christmas at home, despite being partially handicapped and unable to use his right hand.

“I don’t know how long it will last, but something is working,” Terra insisted.

“He can walk and hopefully one day he can ride a bike with his kids. We are looking for a bike with one hand,” she continued.

“I hope he can be used as an example of how these treatments work.

“You don’t have to choose whether they live or die based on how much they can afford.”

Despite losing her mother to Ade’s illness, Covid-19’s pandemic, and heart surgery complications on her September birthday, Terra refused to lose hope.

She said. “My children are a great source of power.

“I was completely honest with them from the beginning.”

“When I got the news, I talked to them right away, but they always had hope because they said,’Mom is trying to find something,'” she explained.

“They know it’s serious, but they also know that we’re really working hard to raise money.

“My son said to me,’I’m not worried until you tell me you should.'”

She added: “They know that I act frankly and I don’t protect anything from them.”

Previous fundraising events have included family walks to Birmingham, Ade’s best friends cycling to France on exercise bikes, and Cove and Ever’s friends on sponsored bikes and 15km hikes.

“It’s great to have this real community around us,” Terra said.

“The number of people who donated-a complete stranger who doesn’t know us at all,” she said.

“I had a neighbor who had never asked if I could knock on the door and bring food.

“It’s a terrible time to ask people for money. It’s just Christmas, there’s a coronavirus, and people are having a hard time taking a break from work.”

“Of course, we welcome larger donations, but only a small donation of £ 5 is added together and suddenly makes a real difference,” she concludes.

He continued. “I couldn’t think of leaving my family behind in such a short amount of time.
