New map pinpoints tick “hot spots” throughout Scotland

The first Scottish tick map has been released to help pinpoint insect hotspots to pedestrians and outdoor enthusiasts.

This map was released by the same company based in Dundee, which is running an official forecast for the official Scottish Midge.

Midges will not appear until next month, but there are already reports of other biting beasts.

Jay Hutchison, a scientist at APS Biocontrol Ltd, Project Director, said:

Highland and Aberdeen researchers are working with people from across Europe to fight the increase in tick-borne diseases.

Mites are found in overgrown wooded areas and can be caught by humans and animals as they brush past long grass and other vegetation.

Small arthropods associated with creatures, spiders, mites, and scorpions eat blood, and when they eat, their bodies swell.

Lyme disease is an infection that can be spread to humans by ticks that carry Borrelia burgdorferi bacteria.

According to the SRUC, the number of diagnosed Lyme disease cases is estimated to be 3,000 per year in the UK and more than 65,000 per year in Europe.

NHS Highland will be one of 10 partners from 7 countries, health A care system to address the challenges of tick-borne diseases.

The NorthTick project, launched in October, enhances the ability of healthcare systems to prevent, diagnose, treat, and inform diseases.

Dr. Sally Mavin, deputy director of the Scottish Lyme Disease and Tick-borne Infectious Disease Reference Laboratory (SLDTRL) at Norwich’s Rigmore Hospital and co-benefit of Norstick, said: Vector-borne diseases are on the rise.

“The reasons for the increasing number of mites carrying various diseases include climate change, increased urbanization, and other human impacts on ecosystems.

“With increasing knowledge about the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of various tick-borne diseases, it is difficult to spread this knowledge to health systems and the general public.

“The NorthTick research project helps address these challenges by improving collaboration between academic institutions, national and regional health authorities, patient organizations, other non-governmental organizations, industry, and decision makers.”

NorthTick’s main objectives are innovative ideas to increase awareness, stimulate the public sector, and improve public service delivery of tick-borne diseases through an interdisciplinary and capacity-building approach in the North Sea Region (NSR) And to generate a solution.

This includes considering preventive measures by improving your communication strategy. Optimize and develop new microbial diagnostic tools for common and new tick-borne diseases in the NSR and implement these tools in the public sector.

It also includes raising awareness of tick-borne diseases and encouraging better application of antibiotic treatment and diagnostic tests.

EU-funded research (including Aberdeen University) will be conducted over a period of three and a half years.

SLDTRL has 30 years of experience in diagnosing Lyme borreliosis, Scotland National epidemiological data. Its role has been expanded to develop laboratory diagnostic expertise in other tick-borne diseases that may exist in Scotland and to determine their prevalence in tick populations.

Mites usually begin to appear in March.

Flu-like symptoms and fatigue are often the first prominent signs of Lyme disease infection. Untreated bites often appear as characteristic red circle marks on human skin.
