Baltimore — For the third time in less than a week, Maryland reported record hospitalizations for coronavirus infections.
On Sunday, the state reported that 1,950 people were in a Maryland hospital receiving treatment for COVID-19. The previous record set on Friday was 1,885. Authorities said last week that changes in the report could start to increase hospitalizations. As of Sunday, about 25% of those hospitalized were treated in the intensive care unit, about 485.
Maryland also reported 3,310 new cases of coronavirus and 25 new deaths from the virus on Sunday.
The addition happens during the nasty second surge of COVID-19. Sunday is the third consecutive day that Maryland has reported more than 3,000 new virus cases. Until Sunday, Maryland had never reported more than 3,000 new cases for the third consecutive day.

With the addition on Sunday, the number of cases of coronavirus in Maryland will be 303,364 and the death toll will be 6,100.
