San Jose Hospital has fined $ 43,000 for a deadly post-holiday outbreak, probably due to an inflatable Christmas tree outfit.
According to the Santa Clara County Public Health Department, the number of cases associated with the Kaiser San Jose Emergency Department reached 60 as of Thursday, killing one employee.

“The proposal that we are doing something other than publishing a report is inaccurate,” Eileen Chavez, senior vice president and area manager of Kaiser Permanente San Jose, said in a statement on Friday. She said the company is considering a notice and will respond by the county deadline to appeal.
Penalties for violations of health orders fall into $ 1,000 for each of the first 43 cases.
Positive cases may be due to blast costumes worn by infected staff who made a brief visit to the department on December 25.
