Jefferson City, Missouri (KY3)-Governor Mike Parson announced Thursday the activation of Phase 1 B-Tier 1 of the Missouri COVID-19 vaccination program.

A federal partner has informed the state that it plans to significantly increase vaccine supply next week. Priority is given to individuals over the age of 65 and individuals with underlying health conditions. With this news, the state can begin the process of activating Phase 1B.

“Initiating Phase 1B activation is to save lives and protect those most vulnerable to exposure and disease from the virus,” Governor Parson said. Said. “Supply is a key factor in determining our movement through our plans, so we look forward to more vaccine supplies in the coming weeks. The more supplies we receive, the more vaccines we receive. The goal of making the vaccine available to all Mizurians who need it can be achieved sooner. “

Phase 1 B-Tier 1 activation reflects the guidance that the state has received from federal partners and the information gathered from stakeholders throughout the state. Phase 1 B-Tier 1 is active today and Phase 1 B-Tier 2 will begin on Monday, January 18th.

Phase 1B Tier 1 focuses on protecting those who keep the Mizurians safe, including law enforcement agencies, fire departments, and public health professionals.

Phase 1B Tier 2 protects individuals over the age of 65 and those at high risk of severe illness, such as cancer, chronic kidney disease, COPD, or adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities such as Down’s syndrome and heart disease. The emphasis is on. , Organ transplantation, severe obesity, pregnancy, sickle cell disease, or weakened immunity due to type 2 diabetes.

“We are grateful for the variety of individuals who are at high risk of daily exposure to work in the field,” said Governor Parson. Said. “We are grateful for the tireless and selfless efforts of healthcare providers and first responders who endanger their safety to protect the health and well-being of Mizurians.”

Dr. Randall Williams, Director of the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS), today issued a state-wide health order for immunization of Phase 1A, Phase 1B-Tier 1, and Phase 1B-Tier 2 individuals. It applies to people receiving the federal-funded COVID-19 vaccine as part of a determined stage of the state. Please refer to the attached file to view the order.

The early stages within Phase 1B have been activated today and Monday, but currently there are not enough vaccines for everyone in these groups. When additional supplies arrive, this activation allows for maximum vaccination where it is most needed. Vaccinators and organizations can also effectively continue planning for future stages and phases.

Phase 1A and Phase 1B-Tier 1 individuals need access to the vaccine through their employer and / or association.Phase 1 B-Tier 2 individuals should contact or visit their local pharmacy or healthcare provider MOStopsCovid.com To learn when vaccines will be available and how to receive them.

A list of vaccinated people and local vaccination teams is available at the following URL: www.MOstopsCovid.com DHSS uses a list of employers and associations representing individuals in the activation phase to contact local vaccinators or local vaccination teams and plan to vaccinate the teams. I encourage you to do that.

“Currently, one of the most common questions among the Mizurians is when to get vaccinated. The interest in vaccines from the general public is greatly encouraged.” Dr. Williams.. “Our team monitors the amount of vaccine available daily and ensures that it is distributed so that people can receive the vaccine as soon as possible. We make it happen. I am very grateful to the hundreds of clinical partners throughout the state. “

Providers report that at least 27% of Phase 1A receive the initial dose of the vaccine. This includes residents and staff of care facilities, such as dentists, EMS, school nurses, people working in hospitals and clinics, and healthcare professionals. These individuals will continue to be vaccinated.

The Mizurians began receiving the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine last month. More than 160,000 people received the first dose and more than 22,000 were fully vaccinated in the double vaccination series. Vaccine supply continues to be a limiting factor in vaccination throughout the state. State vaccine allocation is determined by Operation Warp Speed.

Details of Phases and Tiers after Phase 1B-Tier 2 can be found at the following URL: www.MOStopsCovid.com. A public announcement will be made when the later stages of the state’s vaccination program are activated.

A white sheet summarizing the Phase 1 B tier is attached. More information on the COVID-19 vaccine and Missouri vaccination plans can be found at the following URL: www.MOstopsCovid.com..
