Vaccine costs are “tremendously low” compared to blockade damage-Israeli officials tell SA-citizens
Dr. Asher Salmon, Head of International Relations for the Israeli Ministry of Health, said the cost of the Covid-19 vaccine was “tremendously low” compared to the economic damage caused by the blockade of the country.

Salmon was answering questions from journalists about the cost of vaccines paid by the state during a virtual briefing on a vaccination campaign in Israel on Thursday.

Israel has been praised in various international media reports for leading the world in immunization of the population.
According to Vox News, Israeli vaccination coverage is almost seven times higher than in the United States. The country has reportedly vaccinated about 150,000 people a day over the past few weeks.
In a campaign that began in December, the publication further reports that more than 20% of Israel’s population receives the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.
According to Salmon, Israel had the first confirmed case of Covid-19 at the end of February, but began preparing to tackle the disease in mid-January, when it was first informed by Wuhan in China.
He added that the country began exploring the field of vaccines early and got its first first quote in April.
