According to DHEC, about 16% of all COVID-19 tests performed in South Carolina since March last year have returned positive. The state’s seven-day positive rate temporarily fell below 5% in mid-May, but otherwise far exceeds WHO’s guidelines for resumption.

DHEC said the newest case of the day was a positive test of 6,824 from January 8th, after having a software problem that caused delays in reporting corrections for COVID-19 cases. ..

The other 117,900 are moderna doses reserved for long-term care resident and staff. To date, data show that 16,369 Moderna COVID-19 vaccines have been given to residents and 8,264 to staff.

An additional 181,984 people have booked vaccinations.

Anyone who wants to be vaccinated can use DHEC’s locator tools to find available providers at: www.scdhec.gov/vaxlocator..

As South Carolina vaccines continue to roll out, state health officials are advising residents to continue measures to mitigate the COVID-19 epidemic.

DHEC encourages anyone with symptoms or infected with COVID-19 to be tested on their own, and even asymptomatic people who enter and leave the community are regularly tested monthly. Is recommended.

What is the trend of COVID-19 in SC?

The daily case rate is the highest ever, rising by nearly 75% last month, with 73.6 per 100,000 people positive for the new coronavirus in the last 30 days.

According to DHEC, COVID-19 hospitalizations have also reached record highs, with the number of coronavirus cases reported on Sunday nearly 25% higher than the average for the past month.

The number of people undergoing inspections throughout the state is also increasing. Data show that over the last 30 days, an average of 237 tests per 100,000 people have been performed daily, an increase of 12% over the previous month.

The state’s 7-day COVID-19 positive rate indicates the spread of the infection in the test area, which is 29.5% and the 30-day positive rate is 27.2%.

Increased positive rates indicate that many people in untested communities may be infected with COVID-19 and that testing may need to be enhanced.

Overall, 4,333,455 tests were conducted in South Carolina.

Are all cases explained?

Health experts across the country said the official number of cases is likely to significantly underestimate the number of cases. At some point, South Carolina officials estimated that 86% of infected people had never been tested or diagnosed, but no longer provide those estimates.

DHEC also records possible cases and possible deaths. A possible case is someone who has not received lab test results but has a positive viral symptom or antibody test. A potential death is a person who has not undergone a lab test but whose death certificate lists COVID-19 as the cause or cause of death.

On Sunday, DHEC reported 77 new possible COVID-19 cases and 53 new possible deaths in the state. This brings the total estimated number of cases to 36,297 and the estimated total number of deaths to 583.
