Infertility patients express concern about COVID-19 vaccine

Interviews on fertility and new research data suggesting that the majority of pregnant patients are not interested in currently available vaccines.

A new study shows that vaccine repellent can be very prevalent among patients receiving fertility treatment.

In an interview with Contagion®The study’s co-author, Dr. Eric Forman, discussed the findings and helped streamline the concerns of his patients, especially those who are already pregnant.

“Pregnant women were not included in the trial to develop the vaccine,” Forman said. “We don’t have much data. We know that many vaccines are not safe during pregnancy and are not recommended during pregnancy.”

Conversely, Forman also pointed out the risks that pregnant women may face with a viral infection if they are thought to be immunosuppressed. The lack of representation in vaccine trials denies the rationale for vaccination, although the understanding of how COVID-19 affects pregnant women is not yet complete.

“We have a high-risk population and they know less about safety than the average person,” he explained.

Forman also touched on other factors that influence fertility and current vaccine concerns in pregnant patients, such as unfounded social media rumors and unknowns of messenger RNA (mRNA) vaccines.
