Fenway Park Selected as Next COVID-19 Mass Vaccination Site
Massachusetts designated the location of the next COVID-19 mass vaccination site on Tuesday: Fenway Park.
According to state officials, the stadium will begin receiving 500 vaccines per day by appointment starting February 1, giving 1,000 vaccines per day to eligible residents of the Phase 1 priority group under the state’s vaccination plan. Will be provided.
CIC Health operates the site with the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center as the medical director.
The site will remain open until the beginning of the baseball season in early April. The state’s COVID-19 Command Center is working with Boston authorities to identify and set up long-term vaccine sites in the city.
This decision follows the opening of Gillette Stadium this week as the state’s first mass vaccination site. The site will provide more than 1,000 vaccinations per day, followed immediately by 5,000 vaccinations per day for Phase 1 subjects, including first responders.
Also on Tuesday, state officials announced that Massachusetts would be one of the first states to launch large-scale retail pharmacy vaccination through selected CVS Health and Walgreens.
Starting this week, at least 15 CVS Health and Walgreens in regions of the state that currently have low access to convenient vaccine sites will receive a total of 10,000 vaccines. Sites are located in Greenfield, Fall River, Salem, South Yarmouth, Pittsfield, Lee, Holden, Gardner, Hyannis, Mashpie, Somerset, Fairhaven, Hevalil, Saugus and Danvers.

Also this week, the University of Massachusetts Amherst has expanded its role in administering the COVID-19 vaccine, providing vaccination to all eligible Phase 1 groups, officials said. This high-capacity site serves qualified groups in the western part of Massachusetts.
With 40 more vaccination sites added next week, the state expects to increase vaccine levels through retail pharmacies in the coming weeks.
