A family of nurses who died at Covid-19 fears their children will be orphaned after their husbands are also infected with the virus
A family of NHS nurses who died of a coronavirus fear their daughter will be an orphan after her husband is also found ill.
Filipino mother Leilani Medell, who worked as an agency nurse at a South Wales hospital, died at Covid-19 on Good Friday.
According to Mrs. Medell’s family, her husband, Johnny Medell, is currently at risk of a virus and is being treated in an intensive care unit.
They are now afraid that a young teenage daughter, one child of the couple, could be left unrelated to Britain if their father’s condition deteriorates.
“It seems unrealistic for Leilani to die from us. I know she was vibrant and didn’t want to keep her daughter safe,” said Mrs. Medera’s aunt, Sheila Acehta. Telegraph From the Philippines.
“We are very sad about the news. Her husband is also very ill. He is in hospital crisis. Her daughter has no other family.”
According to the family, the couple’s daughter is cared for in a foster home.
Mrs. Medell’s younger brother, Noel Osuthu, said: .
“I miss you. You know you worked hard for our family. We love you very much.”
Lian Excelshe, director of nursing at Houpli Clutment, where Mrs. Cardiff-based agency worked, described her as “the gentlest in her soul.”
“Leylani Medell was not only a nurse, but also a mother, wife, and our friend,” she said.
Mrs. Medell is one of approximately 45 health care workers who died during the coronavirus pandemic in the United Kingdom.
A memorial was also paid yesterday to caregiver Rahima Bibi Sidhanee, who died Sunday after signing Covid-19.
Originally from Trinidad, Sidney has worked for more than 30 years at the Grennell Lodge Nursing Home in Sutton, South London.
After her death, the director of Care Unlimited, a privately owned house operator, expressed concern that there was a lack of testing on staff in the social care department. Danny Shamtalley said it was “urgently necessary” to test staff in nursing homes.
