Mutations in the “seasonal” coronavirus may explain why many people are re-infected so often.

Researchers have found that in at least two of the seasonal coronaviruses, a spike component called S1, which is the target of the human immune system, evolves at a relatively high rate. Beneficial changes to the virus appear in these proteins approximately every two to three years and may help the virus escape the body’s immune response.
These indications may explain why many people may be re-infected with the seasonal coronavirus, and vaccines made against these viruses need to be continually updated. May mean.
