Tarrant County reports 1,862 COVIDs-19, 16 dead on Saturday – NBC5 Dallas / Fort Worth
On Saturday, Tarrant County Public Health reported an additional 1,862 cases of COVID-19 with 16 new deaths.
Of the additional cases reported on Saturday, 1,560 were identified and the other 302 were likely, according to county health data.
The county reported an additional 16 deaths on Saturday, bringing the total number of coronavirus-related deaths in Tarrant County to 2,176.
At the request of the State Department of Health, the county began reporting both possible and confirmed cases in August. According to the county, the possible cases explain a variety of real-world situations and may highlight community cases that might otherwise not be reported. To date, the county has reported 187,038 confirmed viral cases and 29,872 estimated cases, for a total of 216,910 cases.

As the state began distributing the COVID-19 vaccine for Phase 1A and 1B vaccines, the county health department began a waiting list of those wishing to receive the vaccine.

You do not need to be a resident of the county to enroll in the COVID-19 vaccine in that county. Registration is possible for anyone in Texas. For those who do not have internet access, Tarrant County also accepts registrations by phone 817-248-6299. In Dallas County, call the DCHHS Vaccine Hotline (469-749-9900). In Denton County, call 940-349-2585.
The county also reported an estimated recovery rate of 2,211 with a total survivor of 166,373.
The Tarrant County Public Health Service has confirmed that the ICU of hospitals in the county is 96% as of Friday.
According to the Department of Health’s COVID-19 dashboard, there are 1,177 COVID-19 patients in county hospitals. They make up 22% of the people in hospital beds. The total bed occupancy of all beds in the county is currently 89%.
Of the county cases, 73% of those who died were 65 years or older. People between the ages of 25 and 44 make up the largest proportion of people with COVID-19 at 35%.
