Yolo County provides vaccinations for COVID-19 volunteers

On Monday, Yolo County Public Health provided updates on the current status of the COVID-19 vaccine and how it provides vaccinations to volunteers supporting the COVID-19 vaccine clinic. The county explained that Phase 1B, Tier 1 people are currently eligible, but prioritize people over the age of 75 due to lack of adequate vaccine supply, which is a state-wide problem. Within that eligible group, the county targets the least serviced communities according to the state’s Health Places Index. “We are focused on saving lives because of limited vaccines,” the county said in a KCRA 3 statement. “In Yolo County, vaccines are three times more likely to save lives for people over the age of 75. 65-74.” However, the county needs volunteers to administer the dose, and at least two clinics. He explained that those who volunteer at the site are eligible to be vaccinated. The county added that many people are volunteering more than necessary. “Volunteers in our clinic are considered health care workers,” the county explained in an email. “We are very grateful to the volunteers who helped immunize thousands of Yolo County residents.” The county has averaged 30 to 40 vaccinations for these volunteers.
