One more COVID-19 case was reported in Arviat, Nunavut Territory
One new case of COVID-19 has been reported in Arviat, Nunavut Territory.
As of Wednesday, there were six active incidents in the region, all of which occurred in Arviat, according to a news release from the Nunavut Territory Government.
“We haven’t seen a surge in cases as in November, but home infections continue,” said Dr. Michael Patterson, chief public health officer in Nunavut.
The release states that all individuals have been successfully quarantined at home and contact tracing is underway.
In the release, Patterson said the government knew that overcrowding and visits would contribute to the spread of the virus.
“I know it’s not easy, but if Arviammiut sticks to their efforts and follows public health measures, the spread of the virus could be curbed,” he said in the release.
This week, from Wednesday to Saturday, a second Moderna COVID-19 vaccination clinic will be held in Alviato.
The government said in a news release that Albia Miut, who missed the first clinic, could call the local health center to book a vaccination.
