Cradle finally cradles her baby girl after a coronavirus patient gives birth during a coma
When she woke up, her baby girl Ava was 5 days old, but she couldn’t hold her until she had a negative coronavirus test. She finally did on Wednesday, and said she wept when her daughter was placed in her arms.
“I’m crying now,” she posted on Instagram. “Our little sunshine is great!”
“She knew the danger,” said Oksana Ruiten, her twin sister. “She took every precaution.”
Her family advised her to take a test, and in the two days she waited for the results, she became progressively worse. It was positive.
“Being a respiratory therapist-I guess I’m just a human-I knew I couldn’t keep breathing and survive in my own way,” she said.
On March 26, she was admitted to the ICU at the hospital where she was employed, said her sister. Three days later she was fitted with a ventilator-she is the same machine that has been used on patients many times.
“When you have that illness, you are just fighting for your life,” said Primachenko. “My focus was not over fear, but overcoming it.”
When she was in a coma in the room, her medical team had an hour-long meeting to determine how to handle her pregnancy. According to her doctor, according to her sister, they suggested inducing labor to give their lungs more space and more nutrients to her body.
She gave birth to a healthy girl via the vagina on April 1 and went downhill four days later.
“I was afraid that I would lose my sister that day,” Ruiten said. Twins are two out of ten brothers.
But the next day she left the ICU around the corner. As her bed descends down the hallway, medical staff applaud, cheer, and see the video she posted on social media. Behind the white-faced mask, she smiled.
Ava will be returning to her family home this weekend, she said.
