COVID: New cases surge to 16,424, plus 318 victims-English

According to the Ministry of Health, Italy’s New (ANSA) -ROME, February 24-The number of new COVID cases in Italy over the last 24 hours has skyrocketed to 16,424, bringing the virus to an additional 318 victims.
This was compared to 13,314 new cases on Tuesday, and 356 more casualties.
There were 340,247 tests compared to 303,850 on Tuesday.
The positive rate is 4.8%, up 0.4% from 4.4% on Tuesday.
The number of cases in the intensive care unit increased by 11 and the number of hospitalizations decreased by 78.
The total number of cases since the start of the epidemic is currently 2,848,564 and the death toll is 96,666. (ANSA).
