Colon cancer screening has been down since the pandemic
No one likes to talk about colonoscopy, but screening is the only thing that can help catch and prevent cancer.

COVID may have been the reason Barbara was included, but for many it was the reason they weren’t.
“Usually each of us performs 45 steps a week, but not for weeks,” said Dr. Samantha Stoven of HealthPartners.
Dr. Stoven initially says they were obliged to shut down because of COVID. Patients were hesitant to come back when they came back. Despite all safety measures in place, colonoscopy was reduced by about 10,000 times in 2020. Not only can you catch cancer, which is often asymptomatic, but it also helps prevent it.
“Not only can we diagnose cancer, but we can also find and remove precursors of cancer that are colon polyps and reduce their chances of growing colon cancer,” said Dr. Stoben.
