Over 500 newly reported COVID-19 cases have been added to Iowa’s total
Des Moines, Iowa (KCRG)-New state data show that the number of people in Iowa who test positive for the new coronavirus has increased, similar to the past few days.
As of 10:30 am, the Iowa Public Health Service has announced that 539 people who tested positive for COVID-19 have been added to the state’s total. Currently there are 339,208 people. The state is no longer tracking the number of people who are believed to have recovered from their illness.
Three additional people who died in Iowa have been reported to the state in the last 24 hours. The state’s total is currently 5,552 people who have died from the virus.
COVID-19 has admitted 170 people to Iowa. This is a net decrease of 6 people from the previous report on Friday morning. Thirty-eight of those people are in the intensive care unit, with a net loss of one. Ten of these patients require mechanical ventilation, a net increase of one. As recently, 33 new hospitals have been admitted in the last 24 hours.
A total of 822,458 COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in Iowa so far, an increase of 54,032 from the same period on Saturday. 239,265 people have completed a two-shot series of these vaccines.
The first tests of 3,064 people have been reported to the state in the last 24 hours. The positive rate for this series of tests was 17.6%. Since the beginning of the pandemic, a total of 1,575,063 people have been tested for the virus.
