Coronavirus: Interior Health declares second outbreak at Kelowna General Hospital

On Saturday, Interior Health announced that one patient and one staff member at B.C’s Interior’s largest hospital tested positive for COVID-19.
The outbreak is in Unit 5B, and Interior Health states that there is currently no evidence of COVID-19 infection in other areas of KGH.
Interior Health added that the 5B outbreak was not associated with an ongoing outbreak in Unit 4B, which was declared on 22 February.
According to health agencies, there are seven cases of its outbreak — six patients and one staff member. The deaths of two people are also associated with their outbreak.
“Outbreak control is in place and a team of infection control and infectious disease experts meet daily with KGH clinical staff and leaders to contain the outbreak,” Interior Health said in a press release. ..
“The hospital can safely go to the hospital for appointments and emergency care. Continue with the scheduled procedure. No self-quarantine or COVID-19 test is required after visiting the hospital.”
Interior Health has also issued reminders to limit socialization and follow public health guidelines.
