Photographer, videographer captures life during COVID-19 pandemic – CBS New York

Since the outbreak began, Fuchs has taken hundreds of New Yorker pictures and their look behind them. Her project in this photo series is properly called “Mask Smile”.

Other photojournalists like Allison Wright are accustomed to spending a lot of time at home. Wright is a documentary photographer who travels around the world to take pictures in conflict areas for publications such as National Geographic. “Yesterday, even just taking a picture of a girl handing me my CVS package. I filmed her because she’s wearing a mask and gloves behind a plexiglass,” Wright said. “The moment I was buying shampoo. I felt like I was buying radioactive material. I feel like a visual anthropologist.”

Like Wright, photographer Marcus Smith is another artist who had to turn to something else during the pandemic. Smith usually shoots athletes from major sports brands such as Nike and Adidas. He is currently taking a photo on the phone.
“I set up a video call like I do now,” says Smith. “Judge the light, determine the exposure, and then press the shutter button in the app to take a picture. There is no stopping the creation of people other than fearing failure.”
And failure is not the image these photographers capture. Instead, it’s a strength and smiles behind the mask.
