COVID-19 hospitalization in Texas, number of cases continues to decline |
Austin, Texas (AP) — The number of COVID-19 cases in Texas was still declining on Thursday, as was the number of people hospitalized for the virus.
According to the Texas Department of Health, there were 373 new cases confirmed on Thursday, 373 less than reported Wednesday. The total number of state pandemics is approximately 2.74 million.
Active cases approached the 100,000 mark with an estimated 108,696 on Thursday, and the state reported 3,846 COVID-19 hospitalizations on Wednesday. This is the latest total available, 69 less than Tuesday.
The state reported 198 new COVID-19 deaths on Thursday. Researchers at Johns Hopkins University say the state’s death toll is 46,854.
The researchers also said that the daily moving average of new cases decreased by 2,695 cases over the past two weeks, a 37% decrease.
