Almost one-quarter of adults living in captivity in the UK experience loneliness
A longitudinal study tracking mental health across pandemics shows that one in four (24%) adults in the UK feel lonely because of the coronavirus.

The study also revealed a large surge in loneliness that more than doubled throughout the lockdown period. When the researchers conducted the first round of the survey in March, just before the lockdown began, 10% of British adults felt lonely. By the beginning of April, this number had risen to 24% of all UK adults.
Similarly, just before the blockade, 16% of young people aged 18 to 24 said they felt lonely because of the coronavirus. This number rose to 44% of young people after lockdown had been in effect for almost two weeks.
