California encourages priority coronavirus testing for asymptomatic people at high risk
This week, California announced a new guideline to encourage priority coronavirus testing in asymptomatic individuals at high risk, making it the first state to extend testing beyond federal guidelines.

The state did not test many people who have mild symptoms or are asymptomatic and have the ability to spread the disease.
The Times said several experts praised California’s decision as a step in the right direction to find all cases of coronaviruses, allowing them to quarantine infected individuals.
But other experts say it may be premature to expand testing because of the lack of supply. State officials said last week that there was not a sufficient supply chain of swabs and reagents throughout the state.
