Halifax-New Brunswick Public Health reported six new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday. The two previously reported cases are now considered resolved and the total number of active cases in the state has increased to 114.

Five of Sunday’s new cases were identified in the Edmundston region (Zone 4). They include:

  • Individuals under the age of 19. This case is the contact information for the previous case.

  • Individual 30-39. This case is the contact information for the previous case.

  • Two people 40-49. Both cases are the contacts of the previous case.And

  • Individual 50-59. This case is the contact information for the previous case.

In the Miramichi area (Zone 7), one case involving an individual in his 40s was confirmed. Public health says it is related to travel, and all six cases are currently self-isolating.

Of the 114 active cases in the state, 91 are in the Edmundston region and 54 new cases have been seen in the last four days.

“We’ve returned from the blockade to red, orange, and yellow. Last week we heard news about what was happening in the area and the number of cases increased again. That’s unexpected,” Edmans said. Jean-Claude D’Amours, MLA at the Tonmadawaska Center, says.

A mass inspection clinic for residents of the Edmundston area has attracted approximately 3,100 people to the Santo Basil Arena over the past two days to help public health better understand the outbreak.

“That’s right, and thousands of people have decided to do it voluntarily. I’m very proud of it,” says D’Amours.

NBCOVID-19 Case data

In New Brunswick, there have been 1,577 cumulative confirmed cases since the outbreak of the pandemic. A total of 1,432 people have recovered, and COVID-19 has killed 30 people in the state.

As a result of COVID-19, 5 people have been hospitalized and 1 is in the intensive care unit.

According to public health, 1,266 tests were completed in New Brunswick on Saturday, for a total of 252,232 tests since the pandemic began.

Case numbers are categorized into seven health zones in New Brunswick.

  • Zone 1 – Moncton Area: 354 confirmed cases (9 active cases)

  • Zone 2 – St. John Region: 230 confirmed cases (6 active cases)

  • Zone 3 – Fredericton Region: 246 confirmed cases (4 active cases)

  • Zone 4 – Edmundston Region: 510 confirmed cases (91 active cases)

  • Zone 5 – Campbellton Region: 182 confirmed cases (0 active cases)

  • Zone 6 – Bassert Region: 29 confirmed cases (2 active cases)

  • Zone 7 – Miramichi Area: 26 confirmed cases (2 active cases)

4 cases confirmed by EDMUNDSTON SCHOOL

In New Brunswick Health, four more COVID-19-positive cases were identified at Ecole Regionale San Basil, bringing the total number of school-related cases to five.

According to public health, the school community has been notified and students will be engaged in distance learning until Wednesday, April 7.

If you or your family are in close contact with the case, public health will notify you about contact tracing. If you do not have direct contact from public health, you are not identified as a close contact.

NB test center extension time

The COVID-19 Evaluation Centers at Edmundston Regional Hospital (275 Hébert Blvd.) And Grand Falls General Hospital (625 Everard H. Daigle Blvd.) Are open long hours on Sundays and have additional testing capabilities.

Vaccination clinic for high school staff

New Brunswick Health continues to provide vaccination clinics to state high school staff.

The circuit breaker in the Edmundston area moved to the red level at 6 pm on March 25th. All other zones, including the community outside the Zone 4 circuit breaker, remain at the yellow level under state mandatory mandates.
