New research on pregnant women, babies and COVID vaccines announced
This study was published this week in the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Minneapolis — The COVID vaccine continues to roll out, but there are still groups of people asking many questions about the vaccine and whether it is safe. I expect mothers to wonder if the vaccine is right for the foetation.
“I’m completely with all the moms asking this question right now,” says Dr. Ashley Strobe, a doctor in the Hennepin Healthcare Emergency Department.
Strobel understands why many mothers feel overwhelmed these days.

She is currently 5 months pregnant and has a deadline of late July.
She finally decided to get vaccinated and received the first and second vaccinations in February.
“I was vaccinated. I decided to wait until the end of the first semester,” says Dr. Strobel.
This decision was very personal to her, as she spends a lot of time researching vaccines, which can affect her mother and her foetation.
She says it’s a difficult decision for her mother to make, but hopes that a new study published in the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology this week will make her decision a little easier.
“This is a very easy choice, as we have a little more information,” says Dr. Strobel.
The study was conducted by Massachusetts General Hospital, MIT, Harvard and others, and 131 women were surveyed. Eighty-four were pregnant, 31 were breastfeeding, and 16 were part of the control group.
They all received either the Pfizer or the modelna vaccine.
“This study showed that you have a good antibody response to the vaccine, whether you’re a pregnant woman, a female general, or a lactating woman,” says Dr. Strobel. I will.
Not only that, Strobel says the data showed that the antibody was found in the mother’s cord blood and breast milk.
Therefore, the data suggest that the antibody is also passed to the baby, and this study showed that the baby was healthy after vaccination.
“The majority of babies gave birth and were born at full birth weight,” says Dr. Strobe.
