Recruitment of health districts for volunteers and vaccinated people in the COVID-19 vaccine initiative
Health officials in Washoe County said today they need volunteers and paid temporary staff to support their COVID-19 vaccination efforts. Vaccinations have increased in recent weeks, and the Washoe County Dispensing Point (POD) at the Reno Sparks Livestock Event Center is currently operating six days a week.
District Health Officer Kevin Dick said vaccination is a priority as it can resume operations and activities and ease restrictions on COVID-19. However, to meet demand, vaccinated people, along with others, need to guide traffic, assist vaccinated people, and provide general support at vaccine events.
“We need the help of volunteers and temporary staff to scale up and vaccinate all residents,” said Dick. “This is an opportunity to make a difference during a once-in-a-generation event.”
Individuals with medical experience, such as registered nurses, emergency medical technicians, emergency medical personnel, veterinarians, dentists, doctors, and medical assistants, Washoe County Medical Reserve Corps.. Volunteers are also recommended for those who can assist the vaccinated person.
